  1. Pulled DSM 305 apart to visually inspect the Ethernet connection at the CPU. Visually looks fine. Found a broken wire coming off the Reset Button of the Power Panel. This is not a necessary feature of the Nose DSM so the wires and connector at the CPU were removed so to remain focused on troubleshooting.

Testing in the cabin was successful with Power, Ethernet and Console. (Nothing more we can connect up in the cabin)

Placed DSM in the Nose (not in the enclosure fully) with Power, Ethernet and Console. DSM booted.

Inserted DSM into the enclosure with Power, Ethernet and Console. DSM booted.

Connected remaining connectors and secured DSM for flight. DSM booted.

Turned DSM OFF and waited 10 minutes.

Powered DSM back ON and it did NOT boot.

*At this point we believe there may be some wiring either being pinched or shorting up against the enclosure.

Visual inspection does not lead to evidence of point of failure.

Tried rotating the DSM 90 degrees when placed in the enclosure. Perhaps the different orientation would change the pressure on the cabling. 1) This did not yield any better results than the normal orientation. 2) The connectors at the bottom of the DSM are routed in such a way that having them go in a different direction adds a lot of stress to both the cable and the back shells. *It was decided to abandon the DSM rotation idea.

Spent a couple hours plugging in and unplugging connectors trying to find any correlation between what was connected when the DSM booted successfully and when it did not. The only time the DSM booted consistently was with the Power, Ethernet and Console connections.

These were the final steps of the day...

Inserted DSM into the enclosure with Power, Ethernet and Console. DSM booted.

Plugged in IRIG connector in addition to Power, Ethernet and Console. DSM booted. (2x)

Removed IRIG connector. Plugged in Analog A0 connector in addition to Power, Ethernet and Console. DSM did NOT boot.

Removed Analog A0 connector. Plugged in IRIG connector in addition to Power, Ethernet and Console. DSM booted.
