  1. 5/26/21

VCSEL removed.  Removed 50Hz EEPROM and replaced with a 25Hz version.  Reinstalled.

    RWI Hawkeye probe sealed.

There is a 15 minute loss of all data starting just before landing.  Looks like it came back on it's own before shutting down.  Looked at camera images and they were still being recorded.  Chris reports that it was the router.  This needs to be watched.

CVI pump can't pull a vacuum.  It was properly leak checked.  It was verified that the old pump, which is the same model, was supplied with 24VDC.  This new CVI powers this pump with a 28VDC to 24VDC converter.  Needs further troubleshooting.

HOLODEC-GNI operator, Elise, is fully trained on both instruments.

Mike Dixon has asked us, if asked, to only cycle the left two HCR breakers during flight.

Ta was handed the CFDC push-to-talk cord.  It didn't work on TF01.

  2. Kyle,

Good notes, fix the date, recorded as 5/56/21...

  3. Unclear whether it is the router.  The server was plugged in there, we moved it back down to the network switch.

  4. 5/28/21

Ground straps were applied to both VCSEL and GNI.

PCASP removed for Mike Reeves and reinstalled.

Inspected radome tubing for water and all is good.

  5. 5/31/21

RWO camera removed and capped off.  I could not find the original cap.  We need to get one made for travel.  New windows are ordered.  Waiting on engineering for window installation procedure.  I think a new design should be done to keep the window in.

Radome tubing was blown out.  Ed reported a little water in QCR.

Server came up goofy today.  acserver was red and the Vortex test bed DSM took two reboots to be recognized.  Brought everything down and rebooted the server.  Things came up good.

CVI spare pump was installed and is working.

The Start Up Procedure was adjusted to start cameras after takeoff and to turn off and on the Vortex test bed DSM at the appropriate times.

  6. 6/4/21

Camera window was installed and sealed in.  Installed forward camera and tested.

CDP calibration.  Jorgen wants one after every other flight.

VCSEL was installed.  Josh troubleshot that the opto-isolator was the culprit.  It apparently needs power from the D connector to operate properly.

Installed the Hawkeye probe.  It was the removed the day prior for some noise issues.  I estimate an install time of around 3 hours if you know what you are doing and all goes well.

    ADIFR lines were blown out.

HCR is going to run an extension cord to their rack overnight to rebuild some corrupted drives.  This was approved by Jason M. and Kurt Z.

  7. 7/7/2021

Cleaned 2D mirrors.  Outboard mirror looked dirty.

Stuart swapped out laser board in VCSEL.  Running at 19200 baud rate as opposed to 38400 with previous board.

  8. 6/8/2021

Began using A/C kart to cool GV cabin.

Ran spinning disk on 2D-C probe. Looks good.

Attempted to recreate failure of dsm_server from RF04. Loaded up ADS and display laptops with several Aeros sessions, including 2D images. Connected two cameras to the firewire hub. Cycled camera recording function 40+ times while wiggling the firewire connector at the back of the server. Unable to recreate the failure.

SPEC swapped their 2D-S probe. S/N 001 was removed. S/N 019 was installed. The FCDP portion of the probe remained unchanged.

SPEC performed minor maintenance on their HVPS probe.

Software fix on HOLODEC-pc to allow probe temps to reach ADS. Elise cleaned probe optics.

HCR running power to their server overnight to facilitate computer fix. Installed alternate plates on pod to change air flow and cooling of radar.

Refilled butanol in CPCs in R1 and L1 racks.

  9. 6/10/2021

Dew Point Left and Right blown out. No evidence of moisture.

Nose pressure lines inspected for moisture. Small amount of moisture in ADIFR Hi and QCR.

Blew out all pressure lines and T-Unions.

Added a small amount of butanol to CVI CPC. RAF CPC still has a sufficient amount of butanol and does not need to be filled today.

Ran spinning disk on 2D-C for Jorgen. Jorgen reports 2D images are acceptable and probe is functioning as it should.

Stuart did some testing of VCSEL remotely.

John M. did some surgery on GNI. It has been removed and a blank-off plate is installed. It will not be flown on RF06 tomorrow.

  10. 6/12/2021

DPL and DPR tested, both came up fine and reported dew point. Blew out cavities of both.

Inspected pressure lines for moisture. Some moisture in ADIFR and QCR lines. All pressure lines were blown out.

CVI performed some maintenance, gas cylinder changed out.

Gas smell reported in Hangar A. Richard and I went over and confirmed the smell. The smell was localized near the doors of the two side-by-side seatainers. UCAR Security was notified. Maintenance was ceased for the day and the facility was evacuated.

  11. 6/14/2021

CDP Characterization performed. Data file made available to Jorgen.

2D-C tip heaters tested (heating fine). Reapplied thermal paste.

Cleaned lenses and mirrors. End Diode Voltages reporting 2.4, 2.0, 1.4V respectively.

Confirmed tight seal of all pressure fittings in Radome.

Checked butanol levels of CPCs in R1 & L1 racks. Do not need to fill at this time.

No maintenance requested to be performed on VCSEL.

  12. Dave,

Do you know the time frame of the re-install of GNI?

    Tks...

      Kurt,

We need a full maintenance day to reinstall GNI. This is to allow for anything unforeseen during reassembly. Since GNI is in a difficult position and a lost screw can ground the aircraft for flight, we think this caution is warranted. We have replaced the sensors causing the problems seen before and are just waiting on that maintenance day. Tentative plan is Thursday.

  13. 6/15/2021

    RF07 cancelled today.

The rest of the day was used for the maintenance of user instruments.

All maintenance of RAF Instruments was performed on 6/14/21 or prior. No other maintenance done today.

Catherine D. fixed the issue with the A/D Auto Cal program locking up.

CVI, CSU, and SPEC instrument teams performed maintenance today.

    GNI being reinstalled this afternoon.

  14. 6/16/21

Completed GNI install.  Supported users. Aircraft ready for next flight.

  15. 6/18/21

Did a CDP check today along with some training. We did notice a little hazing on the optics but it was at the edges so we left them alone since there have not been any issues reported.  If the smoke continues we may want to clean them next week.

Looked at 2DC voltages and they were down 0.2V so we decided to leave them alone for now.

Looks at the CN levels and we could still see liquid so we did not add any more.

    Supported people as needed.

  16. 6/21/2021

Cleaned CDP windows. Quite a bit of residue was removed.

Blew out DPL and DPR. No moisture.

Blew out all pressure lines and T-Unions.

Cleaned 2D-C mirrors - some residue on the laser-side mirror. During reassembly, Richard noticed one of the heater tip wires had worn thru its insulation. The wire was desoldered and heat shrink was used to cover the affected area.

CPC butanol levels are sufficient for the next flight.

CVI and SPEC user teams here today performing maintenance on their instruments.

  17. Unknown User (munnerly)

    6-21-2021

GNI function checked and ready for flight

  18. 6/22/2021

No maintenance performed by user teams or RAF today.

  19. 6/23/2021

Adriana and Elise worked on CVI for a couple of hours today. Mostly training for Elise.

Brought the server up for Chris W. Started data acquisition and nimbus, then started the web browser. As soon as the browser page came up, data acq and nimbus died. Could not duplicate this error.

No maintenance performed on RAF instruments today.

    Ready for RF09 tomorrow.
