GRID CIRCLE

Examination of the monthly history files from CICE, POP and CAM reveal a grid artifact located at approximately 78 degrees north. It appears to be a discontinunity in a large number of the fields. Several CICE fields and a CAM field are attached below.
Snow temperature is seen below. Note the semicircular ghost image in the left corner of the image above Alaska.

The discontinunity is particularly apparent in the ice velocity field (UVEL)

The grid line also appears in CAM. The Clearsky net longwave flux at the surface is ploted below. Notice the straight line at the top of the image.
