A declining user base, excessive cost per user, and budget limitations have led to the decision to
decommission UCAR's Level 3 Dial-up Remote Access service (http://www.cisl.ucar.edu/cpg/ras/) on May 1st, 2011.

This page is intended to be a quick reference of possible alternatives to UCAR's Level 3 Dial-up Remote Access service.  If you know of a solution please update this page with the details.

Solutions

  1. Individual Dial-up account
    1. ArcZip - ArcZip can provide individual dialup accounts for about $15 per month.  They are not the cheapest, and I do not have any personal experience using their service, but they have received positive reviews in a number of forums.  Reviews of other dialup service providers can be found here.
  2. Tethering to a Smartphone
  3. Wi-Fi
