Weather Museum
Description & Benefits:
Create a science museum focused on weather and environmental science. It would include exhibts similar to the Mesa Lab, but expanded to relate directly to the local environment. Include photographs of the local environment, it's history, the growth of the state and natural disaters that the state has overcome. An important element would be a children's hands on musuem where children can interact with science, weather and the enviornment. This would provide an educational tourist attraction within the community of Cheyenne and would help UCAR/NCAR expand it's educational mission to the general population.
UCAR/NCAR's role:
Provide assistance in desiging and building exhibits.
External roles:
This would be a collaboration with the city of Cheyenne and possibly the state.
Research Conducted:
The Preserve America Fund provides funding for historical preservation. This would include buildings, photos, and historical documents.
Western Wyoming College has a Natural History Museum.
University of Wyoming has a Natural History department.
