partly cloudy and cold
Tom wanted to see if the shadowband was doing its job at sunset. To make a long story short, Tom determined that the location of the sensor was not in the center of the circular ring made by the shadowband. So we removed the unit and I will make mods to it for redeployment tomorrow.
We went to Riverton on 9/31 to check on the shadow band, arriving about 1545 and leaving about 1615.
We discovered that the licor window is not in the center of the shadow band because of the way
it is mounted. We removed the shadowband arm to fix this back at the Residence Inn.

Tom did not like his rabbit ears so we re-adjusted the shadowband. to an angle of 32.5 degrees. The ring was also moved along the arm to better center the licor in ths plane of the ring.

Revisited station 7 to see how the shadowband is doing.
The sun was starting to creep up on the licor so Tom increased the angle of the arm which decreased the angle of the ring.
The inclinometer now reads 31 degrees.
14:15 - 14:30
Clear skies with a touch haze (air pollution)
soil sample taken, containers 2:0-3 and 2:3-6
Dessicant in radiometers ok
12:35 - 12:50
Clear with a little haze
adjust shadowband elevation for 31.36 degrees at 12:41
Best we could do with the inclinometer was about 32 degrees.
11:10 - 11:35
clear with a touch of haze
11:15 soil sample taken, containers 1:0-3 and 1:3-6, dessicant ok in radiometers
Worked on router to get ststaion back on the air. Gordon provided a list of commands to try. Based on the results of the commands he was able to determine why the router locked up. He will work on a fix.
Recycled power to router and got it going.

Comms to wvally4 went down last night, in a similar way that hiland3 dropped out the previous night. hiland3 was able to restablish comms itself via the router_check.sh script, but wvally4 has not come back online.
Steve and Tom are at the site.
11:20 am:
router LEDs:
power on
wan flashing
wlan off
usb off
modem led: solid green
ifconfig eth0 looks ok
host www.google.com
64.233.187.99
ping www.google.com works
host www.eol.ucar.edu
169.254.222.173
That 169.254. address is a "private APIPA" address, which is what some systems use if they can't find a DHCP server.
Pings to that address succeed, and so the router_check.sh script thinks everything is OK.
I'll update the router_check.sh scripts so that if the host command returns 169.254.. then it will restart the router.
