Dear ASP Summer Colloquium participant,

The scientific organizing committee of the ASP summer colloquium is delighted that you will be joining us one month from now in Boulder, CO. I look forward to meeting all of you. ASP has sent you information about travel logistics. Below are some additional requests:

  1. As noted in the invitation, please be prepared to bring a poster not to exceed 4'x4'. This can be a formal research poster, one that you used at a previous conference, or something more informal (e.g., research proposal, background of your field, etc...). Generally, the posters are a chance to highlight your work or proposed work to the group as a whole. We will showcase 25 of these posters on the Tuesday 6/5 and the remaining 25 on Thursday 6/7 from 7-9 pm in the Williams Village location. Please contact me directly if you have questions about the posters.
    1. We would appreciate electronic copies of your poster if you can provide them (PDF, PPT, DOC, JPG, or other standard format). Please upload them to collaborative wiki site (instructions below).
  2. The presenters at the colloquium would like to know more about you and I imagine so do the students as a whole. We would like to put a short statement about you on the collaborative wiki website. The presenters can then use this information to tailor presentations to the research background of the attendees. Thus, we ask you do one of the following:
    1. Provide us a short (1 or 2 paragraph) statement of your research and personal interests. You could simply excerpt your application statement if you like. You can post this information directly on the wiki (instructions below) or e-mail it to me ( adesai@ucar.edu ).
    2. Give us permission to excerpt your application statement as we see fit.

Please try to do so before Friday, May 11.

Uploading to wiki

Go to Student interest list, then click on the blue Edit tab, add your own information, click Save. Don't worry if you mess up, old versions are saved.

For posters - Select Student posters and presentations, then select Attachments tab, click Browse, add your file and a comment. I have added one of my posters. Try to keep file sizes small (e.g., Distill a Illustrator PDF to a 11x8.5 page).

Also, check out the draft Agenda while you're here, updated today.

I hope everyone is sorting out their travel plans, so that we will see you in June!

Sincerely,
ASP Colloquium Scientific Organizing Committee -

  Ken Davis, Penn State Univ.
  Beth Holland, NCAR
