Fire emissions can be calculated online within CLM/CTSM.
Namelist specification
Emissions calculated in CLM are matched to chemical species in CAM-Chem with a namelist that can be included in user_nl_cam ...
Emission factors file
Emission factors are specified in a netcdf file.
Original file: /glade/p/cesmdata/cseg/inputdata/lnd/clm2/firedata/fire_emission_factors_78PFTs_c180912.nc. Biomass burning EFs from: Akagi, et al, ACP 2011, Andreae and Merlet, GBC 2001 (and updated table from 2013) and Yokelson et al., 2013. Data compiled by Fang Li and Maria Val Martin. Fire EFs netcdf file created by Maria Val Martin (m.valmartin@sheffield.ac.uk.
Updates:
- /glade/work/emmons/fire_inputs/fire_emission_factors_78PFTs_c20220111.nc: added bc_a4 (=BC), pom_a4 (=1.4*OC), num_a4_bc, num_a4_pom, so4_a1 (=0.025*SO2), num_a1_so4
- /glade/work/emmons/fire_inputs/fire_emission_factors_78PFTs_c20251010_v0.nc: added SVOC (=0.6*1.4*OC); IVOC (20% of BIGALK, BIGENE, TOLUENE, CH3OH, scaled by MW)
- /glade/work/emmons/fire_inputs/fire_emission_factors_78PFTs_c20251010_v1.nc: added SOAE (=0.5954D0*ISOP + 2.5592D0*BENZENE + 8.5371D0*IVOC + 16.650D0*SVOC + 8.2367D0*TOLUENE + 6.5013D0*XYLENE + 5.1004D0*C10H16)
(The EFs netcdf file - originally created by Maria Val Martin, updated by Fang Li. (These could be updated to the NEIVA database and match those in FINNv2.6 - please contact Louisa Emmons if you would like to help with this).
