Contributing Metadata and Collections

The UCARConnect catalog is made up of information about high-quality online educational resources created by the UCAR community. Information comes from the databases and organizational knowledge of the various UCAR divisions and is organized into metadata records. This wiki is intended to explain this process so that you will know how to submit resource information to UCARConnect (whether it's a single resource or a collection of them), and how to use the system's metadata in downstream applications.

This wiki is intended to complement, and often redirects to, the Developer APIs wiki.

The wiki is organized into the following sections:

Contributing to UCARConnect: how to have your educational resource or collection of resources disseminated through the catalog

  • Checklist of Information Needed to Submit your Collection to UCARConnect
  • Contributing a Resource: for those who would like to submit a single resource or a small number of resources
  • Contributing a Collection: for those who have collections of resources that meet the UCARConnect quality standards
  • LAR Concepts: information about the concept underlying the catalog's metadata framework, Learning Application Readiness
  • Policies: important documents concerning the scope and aim of the catalog are found here
  • Metadata Formats: fact sheets on metadata formats used (lar, comm_anno, and comm_para)
  • Sharing Metadata: exactly how metadata can be made available for UCARConnect indexing
  • No labels
