JEDI infrastructure (Evan):

  • Spack Stack 1.9 update will be released mid January. Expect a mid-month cut with the 1.9 version set during a week, and full availability for the end of the month. This will add support for the intel lldm compiler. but still support ifort. The legacy intel environment may still be used, but won’t be supported. 1.9 will include cylk and other environments.
  • R2D2 Debbuging the V3 API release , will go with Spack Stack 1.9. There should be less local interactions.

JEDI Algo (Francois H and Clementine):

  • IODA updates. PR get_db and put_db from Steve V. will enable to test IODA with the old and the new odb backend. Steve H merged a PR that will enable the start of continuous DA.
  • NOAA got a bug fix in the boundary region of FV3-regional interface.
  • Adapting workflow to staggered winds (PR from Dan Holdway)
  • PR to shift the end of the DA window to enable continuous DA (Christian PR)

Obs (Ben R):

UFO

  • Met office contributed a nice PR to add the cloud top pressure
  • Dave Davis contributed to technical debt reduction
  • Jian Jun added different cloud treatment based on surface, This resembles GSI
  • NOAA contributed to a warning with CRTM when the sum of cloud type is not equal to 1
  • NOAA, MetOffice & JCSDA added a unified surface correction type being specified by YAML: MetOffice, WRFDA and GSL. Currently the full implementation is MetOffice

IODA converters:

  • Total column and profiler of OMP ozone from NOAA class. The converter will compute the total column from the profiles.
  • Converter for TEC in an old tenet format. Thanks to NRL DC.
  • Tomorrow IO sounder converter will handle  tomorrow io products

CRTM (Ben J):

  • Working on 3.2 releases for release toward the end of the month
  • Reconciling tomorrow IO and TROPICS coefficients
  • Preparing AMS and ATSC conferences

SOCA (Travis):

  • Nothing special.

COMPO (Jerome):

  • Preparing the AMS
  • Validation for the tempo experiment
  • Shi-Wei is working on an obs filter for aerosol
  • Moving the R2D2 partition on Discover

NASA (Ron):

  • Ricardo is waiting on the pressure increment in the adjoint (Francois V)
  • Ricardo is waiting on Francois H for the GSI interpolation

MMM (Jake)

  • MHS GSI-based ncdiag files were QCed, now converting NOAA BUFR files and applying QC. Found some issues over ocean sea ice. Bernese QC filter differs from GSI QC flags.

Hernan:

Issue with increment. The signal from the surface current is not accounted for. There’s a de-staggering and then conversion.

MetOffice (Adam):

  • Nothing to report

No meeting in two weeks because of the Quarterly reports

  • No labels
