    Maintenance Day

    Turned on data system.  Powered up RWO.  Placed 400Hz to RWO and then 28VDC with WOW and the signal in AEROS looks nice and clean at just over 1 Volt as would be expected.  Removed RICE and visually inspected.  All conductors on MS connector look soldered properly and stable.  There are 20AWG to 16AWG splices in for the 28VDC and 400HZ returns in place.  Put a 1 and 5 volt simulator at the twinax RICE connection to the data system and it tests good.  Toned out for mating twinax connection to RICE MS connector and all tests good. Turned on 400Hz and checked at RICE MS connector and it's good.  Placed a 1 Volt simulator at the twinax connection to the data system and placed 28VDC to the RICE MS connector and it's good. 1 Volt signal in AEROS during this procedure is a clean 1 Volt in AEROS. Removed the DSM and inspected the ribbon cable to the analog card and it's good.  Sprayed contact cleaner on RICE MS connectors and put all back together and did a full function test with freeze mist and all is good.

    Inspected radome tubing and found water in the drain line of the QCR and water in top ADIFR line.  Procedure was to unhook the QCR and both ADIFR lines from the enviromental box.  Take caps off these three drain lines.  Place tape over QCR and both ADIFR radome holes.  Blow completely through to the drain lines.  Then, cap drain lines, remove the tape and blow from the enviromental box out the radome holes.  I find this to be the most thorough procedure.  This is where we found the water in the top ADIFR line towards the enviromental box.  I am fully aware this is risking a leak in the radome but we can't see this with just a visual inspection.  A similar procedure was done with the QCTF line from it's black box through the pitot tube with no water found. Not sure we should do this in the future.  We did a wet rag test on the pitot with WOW and it got hot.  The QCTF breaker had not been tripped which leads to my next paragraph. 

    Flushed out the temp probe with water per the request of Cory Wolff.

      An additional check on RICE is to squeeze the ice detector probe between thumb and fingers briefly to simulate ice.  Don't hold on too long as it will get hot, not pitot hot, but hot.  Watch Aeros to see if it's noisy.
