- Question about slow WRF runs after assimilation, turned out to be a WRF problem

- Problems running GEN_BE (determined it's a problem with the user's system)

- Added gen_be only compile from Jamie
- Changed default "balance_type" from 1 to 3, based on feedback from Xin Li about new WPEC option
- Updating user's guide:
- Added instructions for new WPEC option
- Updating file names, removing and fixing some outdated stuff and typos
- Corrections to the GEN_BE section
- Regression test
- More updates to allow smpar and dm+sm tests
- Print correct number of MPI and OPENMP tasks/threads for each test
- Moving WRFPLUS builds to the "libs" directory

- Question about domain namelist settings in OBSPROC (Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences)
- WRFDA compile issues; user error (Brian Etherton, NOAA)
- Helped user trying to set up ensemble runs
- Commits to the trunk:
- Fixed problems with random number seeds in RANDOMCV for gfortran
- Added no-colons filename option for GENBE; requested by user
- More git-svn tests; met with HWRF people and they decided they don't need that capability so we will not try to keep separate git and svn repositories
- Emailed CISL help about problem with git modules on Yellowstone
- Regression test
- Fixing more display problems
- Adding test progress information for local machines

- Question about bad results from GEN_BE; related to nrange problem which has now been fixed
- WRFDA runtime issues; probably out-of-memory condition (Brian Etherton, NOAA)
- Question about observations and time windows (Texas A&M)
- Question about different types of observation formats
- User having problems with RANDOMCV to create ensemble members
- Helping user format GPSPW and GPSZTD observations
- Helping a different user with radar velocity observation format
- Running extensive tests to make sure code is ready for release; found issues with compiling ifort on Mac

Activities for week of March 28, 2016

- WRFHELP emails:
- Question about compilation issues (turned out to be a problem with netcdf install)
- Question about running outer loops with CV3
- Trying to help a user seeing problems assimilating with background data from NAM
- Commits to the trunk:
- Fixed WRFDA compilation problem for Mac machines
- Continuing to run tests in preparation for release
- Still issues with intel compilers on local machines; at least one is probably a bug in the code
- Found many problems with debug flags turned on; will wait until after release to fix

- Fixing logic so that we don't try to compile 4DVAR code or run 4DVAR tests when WRFPLUS code does not exits
