After a phone call with Patrice Surmeier today, we have been asked to abide by a number of procedures to ensure that the Los Flores safety record stays intact:

  • No prescription or non-prescription drugs are allowed onsite (even in a backpack in a vehicle).  Zero tolerance.  I'm assuming that items stocked in our first-aid kits are okay.
  • Same for alcohol.
  • The hours to be onsite are 6:30AM-5:30PM. (Their staffing to respond to emergencies is lower after these hours.)
  • We are each asked to view a DVD of operations at this site.  Patrice should send a copy to me (Steve).  We may also be asked to have a 20-minute orientation when entering the site.
  • We need to contact their Control Center at 805-961-4055 1–3 days prior to being on site for scheduled visits.  Same day visits are okay to respond to problems.
  • Each person will need ID to enter the site.  I have emailed a list of everyone on our staffing schedule.
  • Gloves, hard hats, safety glasses, boots, are required on site.  Snake gaiters are advised. (We will supply all of this.)
  • They have asked for a "JSA" form (Job Safety Analysis) to be completed, listing activities to be performed, potential hazards, and mitigation strategies, presumably for each visit.  It will be good that Bob will be there for our first visit!
  • Photographs of our stuff and surroundings are okay, but should not include their plant.  Exxon staff may ask to review photos that have been taken.

  • No labels
