Timing onboard the aircraft for investigators.
There were three obvious choices:
- direct GPS antenna feed
- Network Time Protocol (NTP), single digit millisecond accuracy.
- IRIG-B, double digit microsecond accuracy.
It was recommended that all aircraft provide at least IRIG-B. Time would be provided in UTC, not GPS time.
