Access

Rickety gate where road turns, either walk or drive through into field. Conditions are usually driveable, not much standing water.

Notes

Cows are friendly but you will get licked. A couple times we needed to tilt the tower back up from horizontal a couple feet to keep sensors out of reach of the cows.

HRXL height: 202cm from tower base plate to bottom of sensor.

  • HRXL height

Tower operation

At this site cables are bundled together by height (7m, 17m, 32m). 7m cables are taped to the rings all the way down so they stay out of the way when extending the tower. 17m cables are bundled with green tape, 32m with red (and white when I ran out of red). I found that the cables often got tangled and bound up in the two sets of open rings on the lowest tower section so I closed the rings with tape:

Cables play out pretty well while raising/lowering now, but be careful of cables getting stuck on the points of the taped together rings between tape segments.
