  1. 25 June 2009 IWRF meeting notes:

    1) S-Pol timing card
    The timing card is mostly done. The buffer card for all of the timing signals produced by the
    timing card is underdevelopment. The buffer board should be completed by the end of July.
    2) Power P-MAC
    The DETA TAU  class on the P-PMAC is on 20 July(question) in L.A.  Brunkow will likely
    attend and the engineer from EOL is TBD -- likely Loew?
    3) Antenna contol GUI
    Van Andel is working on a prototype radar control GUI. At the next meeting, 27 July, 10AM @ CHILL,
    Van Andel will make a presentation. WT (instead of QT) is being used for this initial GUI design.
    GUI will accommodate remote S-Pol control.
    4) S-Pol antenna surface roughness measurements were made by GEODETIC. These measurements will
    be used to determine the feasibility of adjusting the S-Pol dish and to evaluate the crosspolar
    coupling limitation imposed by the dish.

    21 May 2009 IWRF meeting notes:
    1) Time card
    S-Pol time card is about 90% done. Buffer board needs to designed and
    constructed. Mid-july is the projected completion date (Eric).
    This is the old CHILL timing board.
    2) Power PMAC
    The power PMAC antenna controler box is in but needs documentation.
    There is a 3 day class to be offered by delta tau this summer sometime.

    Joe and Dave intend to take this class.

    3) Radar system control
    CHILL's current control system is termed "DT" for Delta Tau.
    S-Pol could use this control package for S-Pol. It is designed to
    operate using the current CHILL time series format. However, CHILL staff will be creating a new control software
    package perhaps by the end of August. Also, S-Pol has
    adapted the new IWRF time series format so there is some question
    as to the best way to proceed  forward with the S-Pol system
    control software. S-Pol will plan to wait for new CHILL system controller, but may implement simple, distributed control of radar in the interim to further radar testing.
    4) Antenna control GUI
    Van Andel will design a GUI based on the old S-Pol
    GUI and  CHILL staff experience. Recently ARC adapted
    gthe old S-Pol GUI and this  ARC GUI could be reviewed
    also. Van Andel will consult with the appropriate EOL and
    CHILL staff, create an initial design and then organize a demo
    for the first part of July or another time mutually agreeable time

    date to coincide with IWRF staff face-to-face meeting.
    5) FORAY II
    Flanigan should complete FORAY II by the end of August. This
    library of data format translation routines will help both staffs
    with data management.
    6)  RVP8
    The time series output from RVP8 needs to changed to match the new accepted
    IWRF time series  format. Dixon says this is a  relatively simple task.
    7)  S-Pol antenna
    The S-Pol reflector will be evaluated 27-29 May. At that time the options for
    S-Pol antenna improvement can be revisited.
    8) HAWK at CHILL
    HAWK/TITAN/CIDD are now operational at CHILL. Dixon will continue
    to assist CHILL staff with HAWK system,  data format issues related to this.
    Determining the best way for CHILL staff to adapt to IWRF time series
    format is an important part of this.
