Wireless Connections
UCAR Visitor – Use this network for all devices if possible.
Eduroam – This network requires a certificate or credentials from another institution to connect. Staff can submit a ticket to have a certificate installed on their device. Certificates must be renewed yearly.
UCAR Internal - Our secure network. Only NCAR/UCAR devices are allowed to connect and require a certificate to do so. Staff can submit a ticket to have a certificate installed on their device. Certificates must be renewed every 4 years and also allow connection to Eduroam.
VPN - GlobalProtect
CGD provided systems will have the VPN available from Self Service (if it's not already installed). Instructions for installing GlobalProtect on a personal device can be found here:

Printers
Printers are available for guest use, but you must be on the VPN to use them. For more details on connecting and installing printers visit: https://wiki.ucar.edu/display/cgdisg/CGD+Printing
If you are an employee, you will be given a Google account with a Gmail inbox. Otherwise, emails sent to your @ucar.edu address will be forwarded to the email you provided us before starting.

Compute Environment
YOU DO NOT HAVE ROOT PRIVILEGES ON CGD SYSTEMS
The compute servers listed below are available for users with a CGD account and password.This account is not the same as your CIT account! Visitors, speak to your admin or sponsor for an account request.
Post Processing

Storage
Each section has storage space under /project/ that is not backed up. Example: /project/tss You also have 11GB in your home directory that is backed up.
Transferring Data
NCAR/CGD has its own Globus endpoint. For more information see: http://www.cgd.ucar.edu/systems/r/globus
Linux Software Environment
CGD uses modules to configure specific software/versions for use in the Linux environment.
% module avail - list all available configuration/software available
% module load - load a specific module
% module purge – remove all modules from environment (i.e., make a clean start)
